Kelly Lima2025-01-27Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The safety cover we had installed couldn’t be a better fit for our pool. We have a very unique pool with waterfall and our previous pool company told us a safety cover wasn’t possible. Dan was able to measure + source a cover that was a perfect fit for protecting our pool. We are happy with the armour stones now being protected so that the two dogs can’t get hurt or fall in the pool during the winter. Overall it’s been a great experience, and we know it was a tough install on the one side, but they were still very efficient with their work and we’re definitely happy with the result! Looks great too. Vinicius Silva2024-09-23Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The fact that we were able to swim last year was the best feeling ever. We didn’t get our pool finished until the start of fall last year, but our kids didn’t seem to care– they wanted that first swim! The team at Dundas Valley Pools did a great job changing the slope of our backyard so that we have more space to walk around the pool. We are super glad we got the retaining wall as there were other companies telling us that only an on-ground pool was an option for our backyard, and we didn’t like the idea of an on-ground pool. Before we never really used the backyard, and now the kids are in it more than ever. We’re looking forward to the pool getting opened this year and cranking up that heater! Thanks guys. Farah H2024-07-19Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have Dundas Valley Pools open and close our pool each year since 2021, and we’ve had a great experience thus far. During the first year, our pump was missing one of the plugs (previous pool company, long story…) and they were able to replace it with one they had in their van that very day. Also I liked that Dan lubricated each of the parts before putting them in. For our closings, they are always careful to make sure all of the water is blown out of the jets and the skimmer. Harry Hyde2024-06-26Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The guys did a great job cleaning my pool. They used their gas powered pump attached to some sort of tool and vacuumed all of the debris out onto the street for us. This works great since we have a safety cover and we also have a cartridge filter. Hopefully we can get one more year out of our cartridges. Antônio Gomes2024-06-14Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our backyard is something we are now able to enjoy more than ever thanks to Dundas Valley Pools for their pool and hardscaping work. Our property isn’t the biggest, and because of the angle to it that limits the spacing even more. To be able to step down and into a backyard that is now all on one level is something I had thought would have only been possible with wood decking. The kids are so happy with the pool and basketball net, and our patio makes for so much space to entertain our friends and family during the warmer months. Dan and his guys were careful with the stone spacing and leveling, and it really shows because it’s held up nicely over the past 7 months. Looking forward to getting the pool opened this summer! Thanks again for making it into an actual backyard for us. Richard Denis2024-06-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was not our intention to write a review for Dan Stewart at Dundas Valley Pools, but he reached out three times in a span of a week, so he’s going to get an honest one. If you are planning on hiring Dan for any sort of work, do yourself a favour and RUN the other way and hire a reputable pool company. We got a quote from Dan in the summer of 2020 and that experience was pleasant. Dan was responsive. It wasn’t until we gave him the first deposit for his work on a new pool and spa that things started to turn and we knew we had made a mistake hiring Dan. Dan advised we would be first in line in the spring for a new pool/spa build in 2021. His quote was very comparable to other pool companies that advised they could only start in mid summer 2021. Dan promised us we’d be first in line in the spring (he estimated no later than April 2021, likely sooner). He even said if the ground thawed in February he’d start digging. He said 100% by May 24 weekend we’d be swimming and that it would take 6-8 weeks. So we chose Dan. Throughout the winter we started wondering when we’d see designs so materials could be ordered. He kept promising that something would come from his “designer”. We didn’t see that design until well after they’d broken ground and as you can see from the picture of our pool house we’ve included, he never had a designer (Picture included). We had already given him a significant amount of money and looking back, we should have pulled the plug. Although we were promised we’d be first in line in the spring, he did not break ground until July. Dan forgot to order the steel and when we had enough of his excuses, we called the manufacturer and they advised he only ordered the steel a week prior (when he said it was done months prior) and they would put a rush on it. The day they broke ground, the crew advised us there was a huge 18" drop from our back patio to the pool deck. This should and could have been caught with a designer back in the winter. The end result was another $10,000 in new stone steps that weren’t budgeted for thanks to Dan’s lack of experience. The crew would show up and often 30 mins later leave after they advised "Dan needed them at another job". Dan would go days and weeks without showing up to our home and he wouldn’t respond to messages. When I confronted him with our frustration he quickly became defensive and advised he was a "small business" and not a big company. He should learn about the care a small business gives vs a big business. Here are some other major issues/failures by Dan; -He measured the liner wrong and a new liner had to be ordered which wasn’t installed until November 10th 2021. -Our pavers are completely crooked, cut wrong, laid wrong, not level and honestly embarrassing (Picture included). We received quotes for $50,000 the same year Dan finished the job to completely rip up his work and do it properly. -Dan installed 2 separate heaters (1 for the pool, 1 for the spa) and the spa heater died within 6 months of install and wasn’t covered under warranty because it was installed improperly. -Dan had no idea how to get permits for the City of Burlington especially the tree permits. he violated a condition of the permit and we had to beg the city not to fine us (can be up to $100,000 or they make you rip out the work). -During the build we also had a bathroom installed in our pool house and AV equipment put up throughout. Lines and pipes were cut and we had to pay our AV guy a second time to rerun the lines. -To top it all off, Dan never finished the job. There are still several things he promised and was meant to do that he never came back to finish. He didn’t even properly start the pool up for us. This is a lot, we realize. Dan Stewart put us through absolute HELL. And years later we are still paying to fix all the terrible work that was done. He is a fraud and we encourage you to RUN if you are considering working with this company. Jocenito Gomes2024-06-11Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our pool was closed efficiently and with respect for our backyard. We have a tarp and water bags and I was happy that the gentleman didn’t let the hose run on my lawn after he finished with the bags. The last company made an awful mess on my lawn from the bags. It was good communication of the helper + more experienced worker, making sure all of the water was out of the pipes before moving to the next step. As a big pool, it’s a lot of work for us to get it opened and closed each year. Not to mention keeping up with the leaves and pines. Archie Sanders2024-06-08Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We initially contacted Dundas Valley Pools through WhatsApp and they were very prompt at responding to our problem. After a short back and forth, Dan was able to determine that the sand filter was likely the problem. When he came to assess in person, he noticed leaking from the backwash line and was able to install a fitting onto the backwash line to prevent it from leaking. I’m really impressed by the analysis over the phone and in person, as well as fixing the problem for us so that we didn’t need to spend $1000 on a new sand filter. James Paul2024-06-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As a small business, they do a great job solving problems but they need to be more available by phone call. I called and called with no response until finally I was able to get a hold of them to tell them about my problem. Once I did finally talk to someone, they were 2 weeks out until someone could come by and actually assess things. It ended up being that the cartridges were too dirty and they recommended replacing them. I will likely replace this year but I just wish someone were able to tell me that over the phone. Tulsi Kaur2024-06-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The work that they did on our pool has turned our backyard into something else! We had an old steel wall pool and the concrete deck was pretty bad. Dan recommended replacing the deck as well as putting in new skimmer jets and also putting in two new lights on the house side of the pool. We got interlock done around to replace the concrete they ripped out. But the major change was putting in a raised garden bed + steps to help with the erosion on our house side. It’s what they should have done when they built the pool, and we’re glad that Dundas Valley Pools was able to not only refurbish our pool but also fix the sloping problems with our backyard, so that the water and ice no longer lingers on the deck around the pool. It was a long process but the result speaks for itself.. Can’t wait for summer!
